Soft dB sound masking technology

Accurate calibration, adaptive levels and networked control, delivered by 45dB Systems.

We design, supply, install and commission Soft dB systems for Australian workplaces. The system is configured around your ceiling types, room uses and speech privacy requirements.

01 Automatic calibration

Tuned to the finished space

Ceilings, furniture and finishes influence the sound people hear. Soft dB automatic equalisation measures the acoustic response and tunes the output to the selected masking spectrum.

45dB calibrates the installed system against the project brief. This gives each zone an appropriate sound level and frequency balance.

02 Adaptive sound masking

Responding to workplace activity

With optional active volume control sensors, the system monitors changes in ambient sound and adjusts masking levels gradually within configured limits.

Each zone can be set for its use. Open-plan areas can use adaptive control, while enclosed rooms can maintain a defined minimum level to support speech privacy.

03 Sound+ soundscaping

A different atmosphere for communal spaces

Sound+ adds Australian nature and urban recordings to selected reception, café and breakout areas. It is an optional enhancement to the workplace sound experience.

Core sound masking supports privacy and focus. Sound+ is designed for communal zones where a more noticeable soundscape suits the activity.

04 Specification support

Send us your acoustic brief and RCP

We help architects and acoustic consultants develop the layout, zoning and system specification. Share your floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and privacy requirements so we can coordinate the design with the fit-out.

05 Sound masking and partition design

Consider ambient sound early

Speech privacy depends on sound isolation, absorption and the ambient sound in the receiving space. Controlling that ambient sound gives the acoustic consultant another design variable.

On our ANU projects, masking formed part of a coordinated approach using floor-to-ceiling partitions. The appropriate construction and masking levels must be assessed for each project.

A coordinated acoustic design

Early coordination can simplify construction and support future workplace changes. We work with your acoustic consultant to balance the system with the walls, ceilings and doors.

Review the project-specific requirements before changing a partition specification.

Improving an existing office?

If conversations carry across your office or through meeting room boundaries, send us the layout and describe where the problem occurs.

We assess ceiling access, coverage and zoning before developing a retrofit proposal. A demonstration can help your team hear the difference before deciding.

“Nothing sets the tone inside a space quite like sound. Buzzing or quiet, sound instantly informs us how to interact.”
