Sound masking for existing offices
Review a practical retrofit to reduce speech distraction and support privacy in the workplace you already have.
Start with the problem and the plans
Tell us where conversations carry, which spaces need focus or privacy, and whether the issue changes during the day. A floor plan and reflected ceiling plan help us assess coverage, ceiling conditions and installation access.
Coordinate around the existing fit-out
45dB reviews speaker mounting, controllers, cabling routes and access alongside existing building services. The scope and programme depend on the ceiling type, site access and operating hours.
We coordinate masking zones with the room uses and acoustic brief, then calibrate the system after installation. Where appropriate, adaptive settings can respond gradually to changing activity levels.
A retrofit example
Monash University’s Learning and Teaching Building used a sound masking retrofit to address speech carrying between office pods and open-plan study spaces.
Plan the next step
Send your drawings, location, ceiling information and a short description of the problem. We can discuss a demonstration and a proposal suited to the existing workplace.
